When My Mother Got Ill

It was midnight when my mother got ill. She felt very hot as hot as in the oven. Whereas in fact, the weather was very cold. My mother couldn’t sleep and cried the whole night. She had headache, stomachache, and vomited on and on. It was about twelve o’clock p.m and our neighbours who lived next to us had already been sleeping. At that time, my father was not at home. He was visiting my uncle who was also sick in the other place. As a child who was still six years old, I could not do anything for my mother. I cold only rubbed her stomach with the cajuput oil but with each passing time she became very pale.

It was really a silent night. My brother and I tried to ask our neighbour next to us, but there was no answer when we knocked at the door. We were very confused and did not know what to do. The hospital was far from or house. It took half an hour to go there on foot. As the little children we were also afraid to go there at midnight. Do you know what I did at that night? I just sat down beside my mother while rubbing her head. Sometimes, I cried hearing my mother screamed in pain. It was the first time my mother got ill seriously. She looked very pale. I thought my mother would die but God still with her and did not let her die.

The following morning, as soon as I heard my neighbour’s voice, I ran toward their house and told them about my mother. They came to my house and brought my mother to the hospital. Just after my mother was brought to the hospital, my father came back from visiting my uncle. My father was very surprised hearing my mother was being treated in the hospital. Then, he went to the hospital immediately and found my mother was very pale and lying down on the bed. The doctor said that my mother had a serious disease, but I did not know what it was. Maybe because I was still a child, I was not told the truth. I asked my father curiously but he just said, ” Please pray for your mother. Hope she gets better soon.” Everyday I always prayed for her and hoped she get better soon.

About more than a week my mother was treated in the hospital, her condition was getting better little by little. I was very grateful and said, ” Thank you God for your help. You really love my mother and not let her die due to the illness. Bless my mother and be with us now and forever.”

Now the time had come for my mother to get out from the hospital. As a child I was very happy. But my father thought hard how to get the money for the hospital fee. It was very expensive and of course needed a lot of money. Actually, my parents had savings in the bank, but it was not enough. My father tried to borrow money from our neighbours, but no one had money as much as my father needed. Fortunately, there were some cows that we maintained. So my father decided to sell them and by selling those cows my father got enough money for the hospital fee. Finally, on the tenth day my mother went home and be with us again and until now my mother is still alive and healthy. Thank you God for you blessing.

From this experience, I am invited to realize that how God really loves us. He never let those who believe in Him die. He gives us a temptation just to makes us stronger in our life.
